Pineapple, severely abused, still has faith in humanity

This is the story written about Pineapple from one of the shelter volunteers in Taiwan. Pineapple will be headed to San Diego on 2/15 for a chance at a new life.

"We rescued “Pineapple” on 12/22/2010 , the case reporter Ms. Yang told us Pineapple was abandoned in her neighborhood  by his owner about half a year ago, and Pineapple had been very weak for about a week already when she called us.  At first we thought the wounds on Pineapple’s back were caused by dog-fighting, but when we sent him to the hospital for emergency treatments, the doctor told us he was very likely abused by someone poured hot oil on his back because when the doctor tried to shave and clean his back, his back was greasy and his skin peeled off  piece by piece.

Our guess is that someone in the nei ghborhood doesn't like stray dogs around, so poured hot oil to scare them away. Luckily, Ms. Yang noticed that Pineapple was hurt and called for help.

Pineapple stayed in the hospital for a week and he is now back to the TUAPA shelter under Dr. Jimmy’s care.  When we saw the wounds on his back, we couldn’t believe anyone would do such a terrible thing to a poor stray animal.  And what amazed we were..despite everything he has been through, Pineapple didn't lose his faith in humanity.  He is still this loving, trusting and forgiving boy who just wants to be around people, although he is independent.

Pineapple is safe for now living at the TUAPA shelter, but without the fur on the majority part of his body, he's vulnerable and very likely to be picked on by his cellmates and gets hurt if a fight breaks out.   That's why we are seeking your help.  Pineapple deserves to have a good life!  People have failed him once, let's not fail him again.  Please help and share his story to anyone you know, so he can have a chance to live safely and happily for the rest of his life with his human family.  Thank you for reading and sharing his story!"

The hair on Pineapple's back is starting to grow back. He will be coming to San Diego on February 15th and he will live with a trainer so he can receive love, care, and training until he finds his forever home. If you are interested in adopting Pineapple, please call 619-916-8710
